Dr. George Lucas: Negotiations Expert Trainer, Author

Dr. George Lucas

George Lucas has been active in business education, executive development, and organizational consulting since the early eighties.  After receiving his Bachelors degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, he served in field sales positions with American Hospital Supply Corporation and Pitney Bowes.  He then returned to Missouri to complete his MBA and Ph.D. in business administration.  With his doctorate completed, he accepted a faculty position on the Graduate Faculty of Texas A&M University, where he served as one of the founding members of the internationally-recognized Center for Retailing Studies. 

In 1987, he joined the faculty of the University of Memphis, where he achieved the rank of Full Professor in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics.  There he taught in the Executive MBA, MBA, and Ph.D. programs. 

George is the author of several books, including Marketing Strategy, and Retailing.  In 2001, he co-authored the widely read self-help book - The Contented Achiever. Lucas is presently writing The Contented Negotiator as a follow-up to his successful CD series on the topic - Negotation, What You Don't Know Can Cost You.  This is a skill area in which he has worked as a field consultant and trainer since 1995.

Lucas maintains an active consulting and speaking practice in the areas of marketing strategy, negotiation skills, leadership and management, and consultative selling.  George has made presentations on five continents, and continues to make presentations across six continents.   A partial list of his clients includes: Marsh; Primacy Relocation, Infolabs, Inc.; FedEx; Orgill Hardware, Inc.; The New York Times Broadcast Group; The Composite Can and Tube Institute; Sonoco; Cavalier Homes, Inc.; The National Home Furnishings Association;  American Car Care Centers; and Sealy Mattress Company.  He is presently a member of the board of directors and a senior consultant for U.
